Another question might be how to love? What does it mean to love Allah and His messenger? I think of the condition of a person who is in love with someone. Who wants to impress her beloved, to constantly please him and earn his love in return. I think of how she loves to hear things about him - anything. And how she's always thinking of him. And how her heart skips a beat when she hears his name. (For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts - Qur'an 8:2). Perhaps this example of human love might shed some light into how our actions might express the love we strive to have for our Lord and His messenger. And Allah is above all examples. For example, the Quran, the words of Allah sw Himself. One only has to pick up the Quran and know that Allah sw is there for us, and is speaking directly to us. What better thing to love than the Quran that will never 'disappear', and will forever guide us. Another example would be the Prophet pbuh who has taught us everything we need to know in order to gain Allah sw's pleasure. Reading, reflecting and implementing what's written in the Quran and following our beloved Prophet (pbuh) will insah'Allah lead us closer to the One whom we truly love and whose pleasure we seek. After reading this entry, I took a minute and considered whom we, as humans beings, love. We love our parents, we love our siblings, we love our families, our friends, our jobs, we love people that we've met for a moment and people whom have changed our lives and as much as we hate to admit it, we also have love for some materialistic things. But what do all these things have in common? The underlining consistency between all these things is that they all have been given to us by our Creator and our Provider Allah (SWT). Therefore, rationally thinking, would you not love the One whom has given you everything else that you love? I let my mind race, and link non-related thoughts with one another. Sometimes, when I really have the time, I wonder how I got to what I was thinking, and then I begin to trace my thoughts back to the first thought. And I think, I developed this "love" of thinking because it does not need any physical resource, and it makes me realise my freedom. I love to think, and reflect, even if @ the cash counter. I let my mind race, and link non-related thoughts with one another.
